After a while, I decided to post on this topic again since it has been a good reach and attracted quite a lot of audience to this Blog of crazy updates.. I could almost guess your mind-voice that this blog doesn't sound much crazy.. right?,  but the main motto is to give interesting facts that can amaze you and also seem to be insane. However, it's my pleasure to present a list of inventions that includes gadgets and ideas make us wonder, "What they were thinking ? " Lets dive in.

1. OOMBRELLA

Imagine an umbrella that's more than just a shield from the rain. The "Oombrella" concept embodies a smart umbrella that could potentially notify you of impending weather conditions. The inventor Wezzoo might felt like it took too much work to check the phone. It was a costly, over-designed device that addressed a need that didn't exist.  It can provide some hyper-local weather data and tracking keep you informed and notified.

There are some similar products too,  Jonas and KISHA offer same or little upgraded features to the users. Thank you, but I'll continue to use my simple, reliable & old umbrella.

2. QUIBI

With its brief, mobile-focused videos, Quibi sought to transform the way we consume media. Despite a well-publicized debut, it was a mobile-first streaming service launched in April 2020 by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman. It aimed to revolutionize short-form content with episodes under 10 minutes, designed for on-the-go viewing. Despite raising $1.75 billion and featuring big-name talent, Quibi struggled to gain traction.

The service shut down in December 2020, citing poor subscriber numbers and the challenges of launching during the pandemic. Roku later acquired Quibi's content library for under $100 million, rebranding it as "Roku Originals" . Quibi's failure highlighted the challenges of innovating in a crowded streaming market, as it flopped faster than its 10-minute episodes.

3. KOHLER NUMI 2.0

Kohler Numi 2.0 is a smart toilet launced in 2018,  that redefines bathroom luxury. It combines sleek design with advanced technology, offering personalized comfort and cleansing experiences.  It is compatible with the KOHLER Konnect app and Amazon Alexa for voice control.

With features like a foot warmer, built-in speakers, and a heated seat, the Numi toilet costs more than $6,000. The majority of people thought it was absurdly expensive for a place to conduct business, even though it might be the throne of your dreams. A royal flush of money can be wasted.. for anybody.

4. JIBO

Imagine a robot that's like a cheerful, slightly awkward friend who always tries to make you laugh. Jibo was designed to be your friendly home robot, with a personality that's part Pixar charm and part goofy humor. He'd swivel his head to "look" at you, tell jokes, and even bust out some dance moves. But beneath the cute facade, Jibo was a bit of a lightweight when it came to actual smart home skills. Still, who needs functionality when you have a robot that can twirl and make you smile?

5. SNOO , SMART SLEEPER

Over the past ten years, several high-tech items for parents have been developed, but since its 2016 release, the Snoo Smart Sleeper has been one of the most significant. This sensitive bassinet helps to lessen crying and naturally sleep-trains a baby by simulating the sounds and movements of a womb.

In partnership with industrial designer Yves Béhar and Deb Roy, PhD, director of the Laboratory for Social Machines at the MIT Media Lab, it was created by pediatrician Harvey Karp, MD, co-founder of Happiest Baby. It is the first bed to stop babies from inadvertently rolling over, in addition to being the smartest bassinet in the world. Additionally, parents get more sleep when their infant gets better sleep.

6. MIND-CONTROLLED TV REMOTE

Looks like lazy Sundays are about to get even lazier! Are video game controllers and TV remotes on the verge of extinction as tech manufacturers shift focus to brain-computer interfaces?

Meet NextMind — a futuristic headset that reads your brain’s electric pulses like a mind-reading wizard. By tracking activity in your visual cortex, it turns your thoughts into real-time digital commands. So now, instead of fumbling for the remote, you can just think about changing channels, turning up the volume, or making your video game character jump — all without lifting a finger.

7. REKOGNITION INITIATES

Damien Mason, a technical writer at ProPrivacy, tells Reader's Digest that facial recognition technology, which was first developed in the early 1960s by Woody Bledsoe, Helen Chan Wolf, and Charles Bisson, has grown rapidly in the past ten years. The 2016 release of Amazon's Rekognition software is among the most well-known instances of facial recognition software.

On the one hand, facial recognition, which was made famous by Apple's iPhone X as a means of user authentication, adds an additional layer of biometric security. However, it also fosters a situation of widespread surveillance that is vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, Mason says. "Yes, it can assist in locating and apprehending wanted criminals, but it is still an unreliable technology with far too many false positives to be a practical policing tool."

8. DOORBELL -BOT

Jamie Siminoff's video doorbell, the DoorBot, which monitors activity outside the front door, was featured on the TV show Shark Tank in 2013. He started it on his own even though the judges—pardon us, sharks—didn't make him an offer that suited him. After rebranding it as Ring and selling it to Amazon in 2018 for over $1 billion, the rest is history of innovation.

Although we already had security cameras and doorbells, this innovation made them both accessible to the typical household.  One popular security tool for discouraging and apprehending burglars is the video doorbell." One of the safest smart doorbells for your house is the Ring.

9. Water Spa - Treadmill

Whether you're a fitness fanatic who never skips leg day or just someone trying to stay healthy (like me, who occasionally “remembers” to work out), you're going to be obsessed with this aqua treadmill! The Water Walker & Spa looks like a fancy modern bathtub, but surprise — it’s got a moving surface at the bottom that lets you walk or even jog without breaking a sweat… well, sort of.

The coolest part? You’re the boss here! You can tweak the speed however you like, whether you're power-walking like you're late for a meeting or casually strolling like you’re window-shopping. And just when you think it's all over — boom! It transforms into a luxurious spa bath, letting you soak away all that "hard work." Who knew staying fit could feel this fancy and fun?

10. NEXTMIND -HEADSET
